Panoramic glazing and concealed-frame windows

Glass walls in which the frame disappears into the masonry, floor and ceiling. We match the system to your design and quote it without a site visit.

Types of panoramic glazing

  • Windows and doors with a concealed frame. The frame profiles are hidden in the walls, floor and ceiling, so from inside you see almost nothing but glass. We present this solution in the MOREVIEW collection (the MoreView system by Yawal).
  • Large fixed glazing. The most economical way to get a panorama wherever the window does not need to open - for example in a living room with a mezzanine.
  • Sliding glass walls. A panorama that can be opened onto the terrace. Read more on the HS/HST sliding windows page.
  • Glass corners. Two panes joined without a post at the corner of the building - fixed or opening, depending on the system.

What to plan in your design

A frame hidden within the building means the joinery "enters" the structure. That is why panoramic glazing has to be accounted for earlier than ordinary windows:

  • recesses in the floor, ceiling and walls for the profiles, and drainage for the bottom track,
  • a lintel with minimal deflection above the wide opening,
  • protection against sun and overheating (solar-control glass, external blinds or an overhang),
  • transport and carrying in of large panes (crane, access to the plot).

The sooner you send your plans, the fewer corrections on site. We prepare a quote from your plans within 5 working days.

What determines the price of panoramic glazing

The main factors are the size and number of panes, the type of system (a concealed frame costs more than glazing in a standard frame), the number of opening sashes, the glazing package, glass corners, the colour of the profiles, and installation and transport.

Questions about panoramic glazing

Won't a large glazed area be cold?

Heat loss is determined mainly by the glazing package, the warm-edge spacer and the quality of installation. For large glazed areas we choose glass with a low heat transfer coefficient and carefully plan the installation within the insulation layer.

Can a concealed-frame glazing unit be opened?

Yes, concealed-frame systems are also available as sliding doors. Some panels usually stay fixed while others slide - we choose the layout to suit your design.

When should I send my plans for a quote?

Ideally before the shell stage begins, or at the latest before the screed is laid. That way the recesses for the profiles and the drainage can be prepared without rework.

Is panoramic glazing suitable for a guesthouse?

Yes, especially in rooms with a view. For rental properties it is worth also specifying safety glass and hardware that stands up to heavy use - read more on the windows for guesthouses page.
